Rossetti

English family of painters and writers of Italian origin. Gabriele Rossetti was an Italian political exile and a scholar, and his wife was half-Italian, half-English and of High Anglican persuasion. Their eldest son, (1) Dante Gabriel Rossetti, is probably the best known of their children. (2) William Michael Rossetti also established a reputation as a critic, and his sister Christina Rossetti (1830-94) became well known as a poet.
