Biography

Roupe is Rupert Brewer, a London-based producer whose fusions of techno, jazz, funk, electro, ambient, and electronic experimentation have earned him comparisons to such innovators of "intelligent techno" as the Black Dog, Tony Thorpe, Richard H. Kirk, and Beaumont Hannant. Brewer released two full-lengths -- one, Strom, on GPR sublabel Neuron Musique; the other, the essential Entelechy, on Resource -- before signing with Swedish upstart label Dot in 1997. A Roupe remix was featured on the self-titled debut EP by Dot artist Quant, and Brewer's first single for the label, "Transport Solutions," appeared in December. ~ Sean Cooper, Rovi
