Roy Parviz Mottahedeh (born July 3, 1940 in New York City) is a professor of pre-modern social and intellectual history of the Islamic Middle East at Harvard University and expert on Iranian culture. [1]

Life
Mottahedeh is the son of philanthropist and Mottahedeh & Company co-founder Mildred Mottahedeh, who was Bahá'í community representative to the United Nations.
Mottahedeh graduated from George School in Newtown, Pennsylvania in 1957, and from Harvard University, with a B.A. in 1960 and a Ph.D. in 1970.
