rubber suit

A suit made of material impermeable to water. A sensible use of rubber suits is in water sports, but other rubber and plastic suits are designed and marketed specifically for weight reduction during exercise. These are sometimes called sauna suits. They are worn during exercise to raise body temperature. Perspiration increases and body weight is reduced. However, the weight reduction is almost entirely through water loss and is quickly regained. Such suits can be dangerous because they prevent evaporative cooling of the body. This may cause heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and death even in cold weather if the suits are used during heavy physical exertion.
