Rule (Regulus) (?4th century). This obscure Scottish saint commemorated in the Aberdeen breviary, was patron of Kylrewni, and supposedly the bearer of the relics of Andrew to Scotland. This Legend, which is not entirely consistent, makes Rule a native of Patras in the 4th century, who was admonished in a dream by an angel to take part of the relics in his care to an unknown destination in the north-west. He kept on travelling until the same angel told him to stop at a place in Fife, where he built the church which housed Andrew's relics, and which was later called St. Andrews. The remainder of the relics had been taken to Constantinople. Feast: 17 October, but also, through confusion with St. Regulus of Senlis, on 30 March.
