(b Akron, oh, 11 Oct 1928). American countertenor. He studied at the Juilliard School and in 1952 was a founder with Noah Greenberg of the New York Pro Musica. His sweet tone and subtle phrasing made him a leading exponent of early music. He turned to teaching in the mid-1960s, from 1971 at Hunter College, New York.

Russell Oberlin (born October 11, 1928 in Akron, Ohio) is an American countertenor who was a founding member of the New York Pro Musica Antiqua ensemble. He can be seen in a 1962 film performing Bach's Cantata No. 54, with Glenn Gould performing the harpsichord part on a harpsipiano.
