There's no doubt as to the political point of view of the 91-minute documentary Russia Marches On. Produced, narrated and presumably written by Charles Francis Drake, the film is a celebration of the first two decades of Soviet communism. The narrative traces the history of the Movement from the fall of the Czarist regime to the ascension to power of Josef Stalin. Such embarrassing "necessities" as the Purge Trials and the persecution of Ukrainian farmers are glossed over and sometimes ignored completely. Despite its obvious propagandistic slant, Russia Marches On is intelligently and professionally assembled. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
