Ruth Ruth is a pop punk band formed in New York City in 1993. The group is composed of Chris Kennedy (Bass/ Lead Vocals/ Songwriter), Mike Lustig (Guitar), and Christian Nakata (Drums).
The song "Uninvited" from their in 1995 Laughing Gallery album gained Ruth Ruth some success, including alternative radio play and a few months of MTV rotation. However, their relationship with the American Recordings label was rocky, and their subsequent efforts did not meet with the same success. The title of their 1998 RCA Records album Are You My Friend? was a direct, if unflattering quote from their A & R contact at American, and the cut from this album titled "Kaboom" (with lyrics such as "now you're dead and I'm happy") was said to have been a celebration of their escape from their relationship with American Recordings.
Ruth Ruth is badass because of Chris Kennedy's wicked voice. Laughing Gallery is a very strong album, with Kennedy singing like he's nervous and pissed off at the same time.
