Biography

With a unique sound that's hard to define, Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband mix acoustic sounds with slightly skewed lyrics to create something out of the ordinary. The closest comparison might be to Fishbone or the Presidents of the United States of America; however, Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband use much cleaner lyrics. The band is made up of Ryan Shupe, Wally Barnum, Roger Archibald, Craig Miner, and Rory Carrera. Shupe is the lead vocalist, plays fiddle, mandolin, and guitar. Barnum plays bass; Archibald is the guitarist; Miner strokes the banjo, bouzouki, guitar, and mandolin; while Carrera beats the drums for the band. Two of their songs, "Go to Hell" and "Snow," were used on the soundtrack for the motion picture God's Army. The Utah-based band released their debut, If I Were a Bird, in 1996 on the Tydal Wave label. Simplify arrived in 1999, followed by Live! in 2001. Dream Big from 2005 was their first release for the major label Capitol. ~ Dacia A. Blodgett-Williams, All Music Guide
