Châteillon, Sébastien (Sébastien Castalio) (1515-63). Scholar and Genevan Reformer who collaborated but subsequently quarrelled with Calvin; celebrated for his eloquent advocacy of religious toleration in De haereticis (1554, on the Servetus affair) and Conseil à la France désolée (1562, after the massacre of Wassy [see Wars of Religion]). His French translation of the Bible appeared in 1555.
