A place in the Jordan Valley near Aenon, where John baptized people (John 3:23). Identified with Tell Shalem about 8 miles south of Beth Shean, the village was also known as Salumias and Sedima. Referred to by Eusebius (Onom. 40:1) as a place close to Aenon, Salim was described by Egeria (A.D. 384) as a hillock surrounding by ruined walls and with a church on the summit, and is shown on the Medaba mosaic map of the mid-6th century A.D
