Plot
The controversy surrounding the writings of Salman Rushdie is discussed in Salman Rushdie: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, with an emphasis on the reaction in Bradford, England. With a large population of Moslems, this community responded to the publication of Satanic Verses with demonstrations and denouncements of particular vehemence. Rushdie answers the protesters, stating that books are not forced upon a group, and that one can choose to not read material if it is found to be offensive. ~ Alice Day, All Movie Guide
