There are actually three terms for catfish in Arabic Salur (سلور), Qarmut (قرموط), and Samak Jari (سمك جري). Salur is the one that I have heard most often, but all three are recognizable. Note, however, that many Arabs see freshwater fish, like catfish, trout, etc. as interchangeable, so they might just call it Samak (سمك), which means "fish".
