San Antonio Rose [Rhino]

Album Review: San Antonio Rose [Rhino]

Review

At a glance, San Antonio Rose looks like a typically cruddy budget collection, but it's really a lot more interesting than it seems, for these tracks comprise what are arguably the most essential parts of Rhino's Tiffany Transcriptions series, and as such may be considered by some as the definitive Bob Wills sampler. Of course, the best part about The Tiffany Transcriptions is the stuff that one doesn't normally get to hear, and some may feel that condensing only the most famous hits onto a collection is missing the point. However, for people looking to get a taste of The Tiffany Transcriptions, this set is very much worth the low price. ~ Jim Smith, All Music Guide
