San Jose is a 5th class municipality in the province of Dinagat Islands, Philippines. It is the capital municipality of Dinagat Islands. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 25,532 people in 4,917 households.
It became a municipality on November 15, 1989 under Republic Act No. 6769. The town was named in honor of Jose Ecleo who was its pioneer and father of the then mayor of the municipality of Dinagat, Ruben Edera Ecleo Sr. The town is the seat of the Philippine Benevolent Missionaries Association.
