Sanchih (traditional Chinese: 三芝鄉; [[Tongyong&bsp;Pinyin]]: Sānchīh Siāng; Hanyu Pinyin: Sānzhī Xiāng; Wade-Giles: San1-chih1-hsiang1), also spelled Sanzhi, is a rural township in the northern part of Taipei County in northern Taiwan. It is the hometown of the former president Lee Teng-hui(李登輝), musician Chiang Wen-Yeh (江文也), and the first Taiwanese PhD Tu Tsong-Ming (杜聰明).
In 2009 the entire county is due to become a city in its own right: a special municipality called New Taipei. [1].

Sanzhi UFO Houses
Sanzhi is the location of an abandoned vacation resort on the northern coast of Taiwan. It was built in early 1981, but construction of the futuristic resort ceased after a series of fatal accidents.
Even though it never opened as a vacation resort, the UFO houses can still be toured. The strange pod-like buildings act as a tourist attraction.
