Biography

Santuário (or "Sanctuary" in their native Portuguese) was a short-lived heavy metal band from Brazil featuring vocalist Julio Michaelis, guitarist Ricardo Michaelis, bassist Jorge Bastos, and drummer Alessandro Galvão. Formed in the early '80s and heavily influenced by the epic style of Iron Maiden, the group contributed two tracks to 1985's S.P. Metal II compilation (an important document of the thriving local scene) but were then never heard from again. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide
