According to Theosophy, these are obstacles that the traveler along the Path must surmount. There are ten of them:

  1. Belief in the Ego as unchangeable.
  2. Lack of faith in higher effort.
  3. Reliance on ritual.
  4. Lust.
  5. Ill-will.
  6. Love of the world.
  7. Egotistic longing for a future life.
  8. Pride.
  9. Self-righteousness.
  10. Nescience.
