Sci-Tech Dictionary: satellite-based augmentation system
(¦sad·əl′īt ′bāst ′ög·mən′tā·shən ′sis·təm)

(navigation) A type of wide-area DGPS, intended for aviation users in enroute, terminal, nonprecision approach, and category I (or near category I) precision approach phases of flight, in which the error corrections are broadcast from geostationary satellites and are useful throughout the geographic areas in which these satellites are visible. Abbreviated SBAS.
