standard advertising unit (SAU)

Marketing Dictionary: standard advertising unit (SAU)

Uniform measures of column inches established by print media for advertisements that are carried in publications on a national level. The establishment of SAUs has simplified the purchase of advertising space in that marketers need to create only one size advertisement for publication in a variety of markets, which eliminates the cost of designing various sizes for each separate print purchase.
