Biography

The power pop antics of Sayhitolisa began in 1995 when two recovering New York speed metal fanatics relocated to Boston after graduating from college. Originally consisting of John Damask (guitar/vocals) and Robert Gaggin (drums/vocals), the duo began performing their inspirations of Tom Waits and Simon & Garfunkel at various open mic coffeehouses. Eventually recruiting Justin Day on bass and vocals, Sayhitolisa progressed into their power pop sound and put out three EPs -- Everybody Hates Everybody (1995), It's Time to Believe Again (1996), and Special Me (1997) -- and a split EP with Inhale Mary. Cactus Records eventually released the bands' first full-length, Dali Ravioli, in March of 2000. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
