Scawby is a village and civil parish in the North Lincolnshire district of Lincolnshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 2,277. It is located 3 miles SW of Brigg just off the A15 and A18. Scawby Brook just outside Brigg is also within the parish.
Scawby has a post office and village shop. The church of St. Hybald is dedicated to a 7th century Saxon of that name. There is also an old school building next to the church which dates back a long time. Scawby also has a very aesthetically pleasing village pump and red telephone box.
The village has a primary school and The Sutton Arms pub. It also boasts a fish and chip shop and a local newsagency.
Scawby Mill was opened about 1829 but the present tower was built as part of a house after the original tower collapsed during renovation work in 1994[1].
The village is famous for the Nelthorpe family who owned the manor. Sir John Nelthorpe founded Brigg Grammar School in 1669.[2]
