Biography

With a sound that falls directly in line with the legions of post-Fall Out Boy emo/pop-punk bands (think Panic! at the Disco's vocals over FOB's hooks), Scenes from a Movie have their roots in Charleston, WV, centered on a pair of high-school friends, vocalist/bassist Tony Bush and guitarist Jon Ewing. The two first met at school and played in a few bands together before graduation, and individual college plans found them going their separate ways. Ewing stayed close to home, enrolling at the University of Charleston, where he soon met guitarist Luke Del Papa, and together they began getting a new band organized. At first, the process proved to be a pain, with the guys hitting various dead ends, but momentum picked up when Ewing eventually convinced his ol' buddy Bush to drop out of school (he had been attending Bowling Green State University near Toledo, OH) and join up with them. With the final additions of drummer Jared Miller and bassist Adam Triplett (allowing Bush to concentrate fully on vocals), Scenes from a Movie were born. The quartet got to work, and local shows and minor tours soon turned into bigger opening spots alongside bands like the Starting Line, Thursday, and Boys Like Girls. The band signed to One Big Spark/East West in mid-2006 and began recording its debut. They snagged a bunch of dates performing on the 2007 summer Warped Tour, which coupled nicely with the July release of their album, The Pulse. Following Warped, Scenes from a Movie hit the road with Permanent ME and the Junior Varsity. ~ Corey Apar, All Music Guide

History

Scenes from a Movie members Tony Bush and Jon Ewing were friends in high school, but Ewing attended the University of Charleston while Bush went to college at Bowling Green.[1] Ewing, together with guitarist Luke Del Papa, then convinced Bush to drop out of school, and the group expanded to a quintet, choosing the name Scenes from a Movie.[1] Adding Jared Miller on drums and Adam Triplett on bass the group started touring locally and soon found slots opening for groups such as The Starting Line, Thursday, and Boys Like Girls.[1] They signed to East West Records subsidiary, One Big Spark, in 2006, and continued touring, playing at Warped Tour 2007[2] and then opening for Permanent ME and The Junior Varsity.[1] Their debut LP, The Pulse, was released on July 24, 2007, which garnered comparisons to Fall Out Boy and Panic! at the Disco.[1][3][4][5][6] They were named SPIN Band of the Day on September 14, 2007.[7]

On October 2, 2007, Tony Bush and Adam Triplett announced their departure from the band. The band later split up.
