Review
Schoolhouse Rocks the Vote!: A Benefit for Rock the Vote follows the traditional pattern of benefit albums -- it's loaded with covers of familiar songs by new and veteran artists alike. As a result, it's as uneven as any other benefit record, bouncing from the fun to the mediocre in the space of a track. Still, it's for a good cause, and it contains an impressive lineup of artists, including the Roots, John Popper, Grady Tate, Bob Dorough, Jack Sheldon, the Sugarhill Gang, Etta James, Essra Mohawks and Joan Osborne & Isaac Hayes. Even though there are some naff cuts, it's nevertheless a reasonably entertaining collection. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music GuideTracks
