A gung-ho fighter who never gives up. Considered the best in the field. Uses cool headed logic and hardened battle tactics to outwit his enemies. Always ready to lend a helping shovel to his fellow Autobots, no matter how dangerous the situation. The kind of soldier you want around when you're pinned down in a slug swamp with no ammunition. Teamed with Tracer who transforms into a twin laser-guided ion blaster, and Holepunch, a former office manager turned military man who transforms into a steel-shattering dual compression cannon.

Scoop can transform into a power shovel ground vehicle. Composed of a super-alloy devised by Quickmix, the shovel is impervious to all weapons fire short of a small nuclear explosion and is often used as a shield. It can lift up to 60 tons and smash through virtually any barrier. In this mode, Scoop has a maximum speed of 80 mph and range of 200 miles. Scoop sometimes utilizes a standard Autobot jet pack. Scoop can wield Tracer and Holepunch in his robot and power shovel modes.

Scoop is prone to overheating when using his shovel to lift too heavy a load for extended periods of time, resulting in complete, albeit temporary, systems shutdown.

Animated series

Although the animated series ended in the U.S. before Scoop was released, he appeared in animated form along with the other Double Targetmasters in commercials for the toys.

While an animated Transformers series continued in Japan at the time, the Double Targetmasters were not released in Japan, and therefore didn't make it to television there.

When the Generation 2 animated series was aired animated bits of the Generation 1 commercial with Scoop in it were edited into the episode "More Than Meets The Eye Part 1." [1]

Marvel Comics

Scoop first appeared in issue 60 of the Marvel Transformers comics. Scoop wielded Holepunch and Tracer during a series of fuel raids on Cybertron alongside the recently revived Grimlock, Jazz and Bumblebee.

When Hook, Line and Sinker attacked some months later, Flintlock, Silencer and the other Nebulan "double" Targetmasters appeared absent.

Ladybird Books

Quickmix, Quickswitch and Scoop appeared in the Ladybird Books story Decepticons Underground, where they were sent on a mission by Optimus Prime to find the Decepticons in the Nebulos Triangle.

Dreamwave Productions

Scoop and his partners did not appear in Dreamwave comics fiction but did receive a full page biography in their More Than Meets The Eye series.

IDW Publishing

Scoop in IDW comics.

Scoop, in Cybertronian form, appeared in issue #2 of the Stormbringer series by IDW Productions. He aided Springer's Wreckers on the planet Varas Centralus in the Kol system when Optimus Prime redeployed the Wreckers for a mission on Cybertron. Scoop later battled Thunderwing alongside the Wreckers, but was seemingly disabled by Thunderwing's shock wave attack. HE was shown to survive, inspecting Thunderwing's inert corpse.

Scoop is essentially a coward who usually has to be goaded into doing this by his nearly fearless partner Holepunch, but when he's riled he can break into a berserker rage. Besides his Targetmaster weapon Scoop has a secondary handgun and a pair of guns which are mounted in his chest.

Scoop transforms into a scoop loader. Holepunch transforms into a twin-prop helicopter or a double barreled hand cannon which can seemingly destroy matter with an attack that appears to punch out small perfect holes in its target.

Fun Publications

Scoop is spotlighted as a members of the Autobot Targetmasters in the story Do Over by Fun Publications. Ricochet commands Scoop and Crosshairs. Scoop is partnered with the Targetmaster Holepunch. In this story the Autobot Targetmasters capture Megatron, but as Optimus Prime arrives to finish him off personally the Micromaster Predacons and Whisper arrive and free Megatron.

Toys

Although no toy for Scoop and Holepunch was ever released they appear to be identical to the toys for Transformers movie Grindcore and the X-Dimension Mini-Con Makeshift. The only visiable difference is that Scoop has a purple Autobot symbol on his chest, while the movie toy has a silver one.
