Scott Williamson

Wikipedia: Scott Williamson (hiker)

Scott Williamson is an American thru-hiker, famous for completing the first continuous one-season round trip of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). Williamson completed the "yo-yo" in 2004, walking from the Mexican border to the Canadian border and back in 197 days.[1] Two years later, in 2006, he repeated the feat, cutting two weeks off his time.

Williamson has walked the PCT five other times before these two attempts. He has also walked the Continental Divide Trail, the Appalachian Trail, the Florida Trail and other long-distance trails, logging over 38,000 miles (61,000 km) miles over a 15-year hiking career.[2]

In 2008, Williamson and Joseph Kisner (a.k.a. Tattoo Joe) broke the speed record of the PCT, breaking Kisner's previous record---79 days, 21 hours and 42 minutes---by over 8 days. The new record, held by both Williamson and Kisner, is 71 days, 2 hours and 41 minutes.[3] This equates to an average distance of just under 38 miles per day.
