Plot

Returning from the second-season opener, SCTV writer Ernest Kirsch (Dave Thomas) spearheads a writers' strike right in the middle of the broadcast day. As a result, the cast of the daytime drama "Restless Doctors" has to improvise; anchormen Floyd Robertson (Joe Flaherty) and Earl Camembert (Eugene Levy) pen their own news copy with the "help" of a thesaurus; and Johnny LaRue (John Candy) works from notes scribbled on cocktail napkins as he tries to interview the incomprehensible Perini Scleroso (Andrea Martin). Fortunately, the staff has on hand a vintage episode of the medieval sitcom "Master Ralph Roister Doister," starring Dave Thomas. Tonight's best commercial: Harlett Romances.
