Sea of Moyle

Celtic Mythology: Sea of Moyle

[Irish Sruth na Maoile, stream of the bare, rounded summit]

Archaic and poetic name for the narrowest expanse of water between Northern Ireland and Scotland, the Mull of Kintyre, usually known as the North Channel. When Northern Ireland was redistricted in 1974, the voting unit immediately adjacent to the North Channel, formerly in Co. Antrim, became known as Moyle.
