SearchMash

A test search site from Google launched in late 2006. Designed for trying out new search engine features, SearchMash www.searchmash.com) produces the standard results pages along with a tabbed menu for images, blogs, videos and Wikipedia. Clicking any of the menu options displays image thumbnails, text excerpts or a small video window, all of which can link to the full content on the target site. A Feedback menu helps Google learn how effective each search was, should the user wish to answer the short list of yes/no questions. See Google.

SearchMash Tabs
Making SearchMash rather unique is the menu for images, blogs, videos and Wikipedia on the results page. Clicking any of these options displays brief previews that can expand to the full content.
