Sears Canada is proof that American institutions aren't limited to the US. One of the biggest Canadian department store retailers, the company operates 120-plus stores that sell home fashions, appliances, and apparel. In addition to supplying about 240 independently-owned stores with appliances, home electronics, and garden goods, Sears Canada runs about 50 furniture and appliances stores, a dozen outlet stores, and the largest catalog business in Canada. It also sells merchandise online. The company's services include home repair, floor covering, and travel agencies (about 110 offices). US-based Sears Holdings, formed by the 2005 merger of Sears and Kmart, owns 92% of Sears Canada.
