Section 31 Fee

 

Transaction fees self-regulatory organizations, such as the NASD and the national securities exchanges, are required, under Section 31 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, to pay the Securities and Exchange Commission based on the volume of securities sold on their markets. Fees cover the SEC's costs for supervising and regulating the markets and securities professionals.
