Plot

A police dog finds himself pitted in a battle of wits against an accident-prone mailman and a gang of crooks (and it looks like the dog has the edge in the brains department) in this broad comedy. Agent 11 (Bob) is a bulldog trained by the FBI agent Murdoch (Michael Clarke Duncan) to sniff out drugs, and the dog's keen nose ferrets out the storage facility of Mafia kingpin Sonny (Paul Sorvino); Agent 11 has also been taught to show no mercy with criminals, and he gives Sonny a serious bite in a rather personal place. Needless to say, Sonny is not amused, and wants revenge against the pooch, so Agent 11 is put into the animal equivalent of the witness protection program. However, unlikely circumstances set the dog loose, where he soon pairs up with Gordon (David Arquette), a stunningly inept letter carrier with a long history of fending off ill-tempered pets. Gordon is attempting to impress Stephanie (Leslie Bibb), an attractive single mother, by helping to look after her son James (Angus T. Jones), and when he comes across Agent 11, he adopts the dog and names him Spot, feeling certain he can smooth out the critter's often cranky relationship with people. But Gordon doesn't know that Sonny and his henchmen are hot on Agent 11's trail and that his new best friend will lead a gang of ruthless gangsters into Stephanie and James' home. See Spot Run was originally announced as a vehicle for comedy star Martin Lawrence, but when changes in Lawrence's schedule prevented him from taking on the project, it was retooled for the talents of David Arquette. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

See Spot Run is a 2001 comedy film about a mailman that takes in a stray Mastiff only to learn that it is an FBI drug-sniffing canine that has escaped from a witness protection program and is now targeted for assassination by a crime boss.

Plot

Agent 11 is a crime-fighting Mastiff who works in the FBI and is partners with his master Murdoch. After making an attempt to go after crime boss, Sonny Talia, the dog attacks Talia in the groin, and Talia sends his two bodyguards, Gino and Arliss, out to kill Agent 11, who is forced to be sent to a dog-training facility in Alaska.

Unfortunately, Agent 11 escapes and soon meets Gordon Smith (David Arquette), a mailman who has distrust toward mutts, who has also volunteered to take care of James, the son of his neighbor Stephanie.

As of now, Gino and Arliss continue their search for Agent 11, under the eyes of Gordon and James. At first Agent 11--dubbed "Spot" by Gordon--doesn't want to catch balls or frisbees, but he eventually starts to play like a normal dog. Later, Gino and Arliss try to kill Agent 11 while he is with Gordon and James at the pet store, but the dog outsmarts them.

When the FBI finds out that Agent 11 is living with Gordon, they take him back but then the mastiff escapes from once again, and finds James and Gordon. Talia returns and attempts to kill Agent 11, but he is also outsmarted, and is put in jail.

Stephanie returns and is very upset with Gordon for what had happened. The FBI agents try to take Agent 11 back. In the end they decide to let him decide. He chooses James and Gordon - although he goes back to give Murdock a lick goodbye. Eventually, James convinces Stephanie that Gordon is a good guy, and she and Gordon end up together. The film closes with Sonny in prison, having his own testicles replaced by metal balls (his were bitten off by Agent 11), they constantly clack together. One inmate calls him "Music Man", causing Sonny to get angry and threatens "I'm gonna catch you in the yard and we're gonna settle this man to man!". However the removing of both testicles has severely altered his voice making the pitch of it much higher.
