Sekigahara (関ヶ原町 Sekigahara-chō?) is a town located in Fuwa District, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.

As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 8,802 and a density of 178.58 persons per km². The total area is 49.29 km².

In 1600, the Battle of Sekigahara took place here.

History

  • April 1, 1928 - The village of Sekigahara is officially established as a town.
  • 1954 - Merged with the village of Imasu, as well as part of the neighboring town of Tarui.
  • 2004 - Rejected a proposed merger with the neighboring city of Ōgaki.
