Review

Senking is yet another pseudonym of Jens Massel, who records for his own Karaoke Kalk label as Kandis, Motel, and Visor. The essence of Massel's music is disciplined simplicity -- he clears his tracks of as much evidence of compositional will as he can get away with. Loose, watery, remarkably warm electronic textures instead occupy his tracks, and apart from his contributions to the Visor project, "Senking" (not to be confused with the Kandis 12-inch of the same name) is probably the least specific of his recordings to date. Mostly beatless -- in fact, almost completely featureless -- "Senking" is a nonetheless fascinating listen, making a maximum of space and pure tone, and recalling the waftier moments of Lithops and Windy and Carl. ~ Sean Cooper, All Music Guide
