The prescription drugs used for weight loss that contain serotonin, a vasoconstrictor that acts as an appetite suppressant; examples are fenfluramine and dexfenfluarmine (the fen of Phen-fen), both of which have been removed from the U.S. market because of their links to heart valve disease, and fluoxetine, which has not been approved by the FDA for treatment of obesity.
