Allison Moorer's second single, following "A Soft Place to Fall" from the soundtrack to The Horse Whisperer, is a midtempo honky tonker in which a woman who's being dumped claims to have written off her dumper beforehand. The singer's twangy alto makes the number work, and she is equally effective on the slow-waltz traditionalism of the second tune, another weeper called "Easier to Forget." The single increased anticipation for Moorer's debut album, Alabama Song, which followed within weeks. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
