This video, narrated by Walter Cronkite, chronicles the triumphant launch of the Star of India. A ship with a long and glorious history, it had fallen into a state of dereliction before its restoration in San Diego in 1967. Built in 1863 on the Isle of Man, the ship is the world's oldest seafaring vessel, made of iron, not wood. Originally named the Euterpe, the ship received its present name in 1906. The boat was used as a passenger and cargo ship to India for many years. The venerable Star of India sails again. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter, All Movie Guide
