Shepherd's Bush Market tube station is a London Underground station on the Circle and Hammersmith and City Lines, between Goldhawk Road and Wood Lane stations. It is in Travelcard Zone 2. The station opened as "Shepherd's Bush" on 1 April 1914 to replace one of the same name which was south of the present site and had opened on 13 June 1864. It was renamed "Shepherd's Bush Market" on 12 October 2008, to distinguish it from the Central line station which had re-opened after an extensive rebuild.[2] For many years, both stations had been called "Shepherd's Bush" although they are entirely separate.
The first station was part of the Metropolitan Railway extension to Hammersmith. Despite now being part of the Underground network, this is an elevated railway built on brick arches. From 1 October 1877 until 31 December 1906 there were also direct services to Richmond.
Shepherd's Bush Central line station is about 0.3 miles (480 m) east beyond the end of Shepherd's Bush Green. The area near the stations has several popular concert venues, and Loftus Road Stadium, the home of Queens Park Rangers F.C.. Shepherd's Bush Market lies on the opposite side of the street.
