The Shire of Nillumbik is a Local Government Area in Victoria, Australia. It is located in the outer northern suburbs of Melbourne. It has an area of 435 square kilometres. At the 2006 census it had a population of 59,792. It was formed in 1994 from the merger of parts of the Shire of Eltham, Shire of Diamond Valley, Shire of Healesville and City of Whittlesea. It is sometimes referred to as The green wedge shire.

Nillumbik was rated third of 590 Australian Local Government Areas in the BankWest Quality of Life Index 2008.[2]
