Shirur or Shiroor is a village in Udupi district (previously South Canara) in the Indian state of Karnataka. The national highway number 17( NH-17 ) connecting Panvel (Near Mumbai) to Eranakulam passes through this village.
Shirur is the headquarters of one of the eight Mutts belonging to the Dvaita school of Hindu philosophy, founded by Sri Madhvacharya. Shiroor has two important places viz., shiroor bazaar and shiroor market which are one km away from each other.
Shiroor is a part of Konkan Railway.
Shiroor has improved leaps and bounds. A new school, Green Valley National School was set up, and subsequently Green Valley College was also set up in 2007.
