Shop 'N Save St. Louis operates about 40 discount supermarkets in the St. Louis metro area and several in Springfield, Illinois. The regional chain is owned by SUPERVALU and is part of that company's growing retail organization, which also includes Shop 'N Save Warehouse Foods and about 20 Shop 'n Save markets in Pittsburgh where, along with rival Giant Eagle, it is one of the city's two biggest grocery chains. Shop 'N Save supermarkets offer savings of up to 20% and bakery, deli, pharmacy, seafood, and video departments, among other amenities. The stores also feature dollar sections with merchandise sourced by sister company Save-A-Lot. Shop 'N Save was founded in 1979 as a single store in Illinois.
