While he could spin a mean yarn, Tex was also a mournful, moving vocalist whose convincing delivery on country/soul ballads was sorely underrated. This 18-track collection includes some of Tex's biggest hits, fine covers of "Dark End Of The Street" and "You're Right," plus several Tex originals such as "I Want To Do Everything For You," "Same Old Soup," and "King Thaddeus." While there are some notable and surprising exclusions, it's a representative Tex collection, but isn't as complete as Rhino's single-disc anthology from 1988. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music GuideTracks
