Shutterfly (NASDAQ: SFLY) is an Internet-based social expression and personal publishing service. Founded in 1999, Shutterfly, Inc. provides products and services that make it convenient for consumers to preserve their digital photos in a creative manner. Shutterfly's flagship product is its Photo Book line for self-publishing photobooks. The Company has more than several billion images stored in its digital archive. One of the co-founders of Shutterfly was James H. Clark.
Shutterfly offers free photo storage and does not forcibly delete user images. Shutterfly also now has an arrangement with Target Stores to enable you to print and pickup photos there.[citation needed]
In August 2008, Shutterfly introduced Shutterfly Share sites. The new tools allows users to create public Web pages from their photos stored on Shutterfly. Like other social networking sites, users can invite others to view their Shutterfly Share sites that include comment forums, photo books and links to YouTube videos. Shutterfly also plans to allow users to post photos on blogs or social networks in late 2008. [1]
On April 8th, Shutterfly introduced Shutterfly for iPhone, a free photo sharing iPhone App that gives customers the power to upload, view and share their Shutterfly photos while on-the-go. (http://www.shutterfly.com/free-photo-sharing-iPhone-app)
The Shutterfly iPhone App allows customers mobile access to view their Shutterfly albums on their iPhone. Photos taken on the iPhone can be uploaded to the customer’s Shutterfly account and stored for free, at full resolution. Additionally, users can create a new Shutterfly account directly from their iPhone.
Shutterfly’s iPhone App automatically uploads photos to a registered Shutterfly account, and allows customers to instantly post photos to their personalized Shutterfly Share site for friends and family to see.
