shuttle test

Food and Fitness: shuttle test

A test of aerobic fitness performed by running to and fro between two lines 20 metres apart. The run is made at a pace usually set by a repeating ‘beep’ sound (hence the alternative name, beep test). The pace is increased at 1 minute intervals and the test continued until the subject is exhausted. Aerobic fitness is based on the highest pace reached and the number of lengths of the course completed.
