side wire

Binding technique that stitches the pages together along one side with wire staples; also called side stitching. The stitching is usually about 5/16 of an inch from the edge. Side-wire-bound books do not lie open as flat as books using saddle-stitch binding, but make it possible for a single sheet of paper, such as a special advertising insert, to be bound in along with the signatures.
