Sidney A. Katz is the 18th and current mayor of Gaithersburg, Maryland. He has held this position since 1998.
Katz attended the University of Maryland where the he received his Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration. He was a member of the City of Gaithersburg Planning Commission from 1976 until 1978, a member of the Gaithersburg City Council from 1978 until 1998, and the Mayor of the City of Gaithersburg from 1998 to the present.
Besides being a politician, Katz is the co-owner of Wolfson's Department Store in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He is also the husband of Sally Katz and the father of two children.
