Sieben vor Verdun, a war novel by J. M. Wehner, published in 1930. Though accompanied by a chauvinistic preface, the novel is a moving account, from the standpoint of a group of German soldiers, of the long, bloody, and fruitless battle for Verdun in 1916. It begins with the preparations for the assault on Fort Douaumont and ends at the evacuation of the Fort de Vaux nine months later.
