Sigmund Meisterlin

Meisterlin, Sigmund or Sigismund Meisterlin (c.1425-90), a Benedictine monk of Augsburg, who is also recorded in Pavia, Würzburg, and Nuremberg. He is the author of a chronicle of Augsburg (Chronographie Augustensium or Augsburger Chronik 1457), which was printed in 1522, and of a chronicle of Nuremberg written in Latin in 1485 and printed in German (Nürnberger Chronik) in 1488. He also wrote a Latin life of St Sebaldus, patron saint of Nuremberg (Vita Sancti Sebaldi, c.1480).
