Sin

A city in northern Egypt, mentioned in Ezekiel 30:15-16 (Sun in Egyptian, translated as Pelusium in some versions). Two demotic documents refer to it as the northern extremity of the land of Egypt. The city is identified with el-Farama, at northeastern edge of the Delta, close to the embouchure of the Pelusiac arm of the Nile, 1 miles (2.5 km) from the Mediterranean. As its name implies (Sun means fortress), it fulfilled an important strategic role from early times.
