Biography

Hailing from southern California's fertile metalcore scene of the 2000s, Sinai Beach's initial entry into the crushing fray was their album When Breath Escapes, issued in March 2003 via Facedown. The guys -- vocalist CJ Alderson, drummer Mike Dunlap, guitarists Logan Lambert and Mike Risinger, and bassist Jeff Santo -- toured heavily for the next two years in support of the record, playing shows in both North America and Europe, and hooking up with bands like Bleeding Through, Throwdown, and Norma Jean along the way. They ultimately caught the attention of Victory Records, which signed Sinai Beach up in early 2005. Working with producer Eric Rachel (Atreyu, Dillinger Escape Plan), the band recorded its second full-length, Immersed -- which was released that April and exemplified the gang's love of groups like Pantera, Danzig, Hatebreed, and Slayer. Directly following Immersed's release, Risinger announced his resignation, and Sean Durham filled his shoes on guitar; bassist Santo was later swapped out for Daniel Barachkov as well. When Breath Escapes was reissued with new cover art in the spring of 2006 by Victory, as the band readied material for its third album. ~ Corey Apar, All Music Guide

Sinai Beach is a Christian hardcore band that was formed in Riverside, California in 2000 by vocalist CJ Alderson, guitarist Logan Lambert, and bassist Jeff Santo. Shortly after signing with Facedown Records, guitarist Mike Risinger joined just before their second recording that became the bands first full release "When Breath Escapes".

Sinai Beach has toured with Zao, Falling Cycle, Norma Jean, Haste the Day, Still Remains, Himsa, Bleeding Through, Comeback Kid and Terror. After several US and European Tours, Sinai Beach signed with Victory Records with whom they released their next album, "Immersed".

Sinai Beach gained some attention after a man attended one of their shows on a whim and found himself telling the singer that his girlfriend was in the hospital dying. Apparently, Alderson went to the hospital after the show and prayed for his girlfriend while she lay in intensive care. In somewhat of a miracle (Sinai Beach is a christian band), it is said that the next morning she was moved out of ICU and has fully recovered from the incident and they both keep in contact with him.

Early influences of the band include Overcome, Zao, Strongarm, Throwdown, and Living Sacrifice. But the members have stated that influences changed in later years to include Black Label Society, The Cult and Pantera, although have admitted in times past that they are heavily into death metal bands such as Suffocation, Nile, and Aborted.[citation needed] Sinai Beach is listed as "artist alumni" on the Victory Records website. Currently Sinai Beach are on a permanent hiatus. Several of the members have moved away and married since the band last played live together. CJ has moved to North Carolina with his wife. Santo moved to Colorado where he also lives with his wife. Dunlap, Risinger, Lambert, and Sean Durham all remain in the Riverside area. Sean Durham is currently a teacher in Riverside where he teaches Journalism. Mike Risinger has continued to create music on the side and is planning to release an album in 2009. The band website, that was being revised in 2006, is now offline and their Myspace profile page is no longer being updated.
